Sir Lenny Henry’s daughter thought Nelson Mandela was her grandad

Sir Lenny Henry has revealed his daughter was left considering Nelson Mandela was really her grandad, after a household prank.

The comic, 64, revealed {that a} image of him standing beside the primary president of South Africa led his daughter to suppose she was a descendant of Mandela – and he or she wasn’t corrected for a very long time.

Sir Lenny and ex-wife Daybreak French, who separated after 25 years of marriage, share daughter Billie, who they adopted when she was two weeks outdated.

Sharing the story on This Morning, Sir Lenny spoke about his new memoir, by which he went again by way of his life and profession.

‘It begins originally of the 80s,’ he mentioned.

‘You are making an attempt to recollect 20 years of stuff, and cramming all of it right into a ebook.

‘They are saying no tears within the reader, no tears within the author and vice versa.

‘I did discover myself getting fairly emotional about it, as a result of it was a giant wallop of my profession, it was so much to recollect and so much to replicate on – errors made and a few triumphs.

‘It is all in there.’

He continued: ‘I wrote about America, and America wasn’t a very blissful time.

‘Mandela Day was good although, I received to fulfill Nelson Mandela, and it was sensible.’

After having his image taken with Mandela, Sir Lenny’s daughter was left considering that have to be her grandfather, for ‘many, a few years’.

‘Primarily as a result of we informed her!’ Sir Lenny joked.

He added: ‘The {photograph} was above her cot for years, “There’s your grandad darling, take a look at him, is not he beautiful.”

‘It was very humorous, she did not know for ages!’
