London’s Southbank Sinfonia and UK Parliament Choir carry out in Rome

Rome’s Basilica of St Paul Exterior the Partitions to host live performance on 29 April.

London’s Southbank Sinfonia orchestra and the UK Parliament Choir will carry out The Dream of Gerontius by Edward Elgar on the Basilica of St Paul Exterior the Partitions in Rome on Saturday 29 April.

The live performance for choir and orchestra at 21.00 can be performed by Simon Over and has the patronage of the UK embassy to the Holy See and the Fondazione Professional Musica e Arte Sacra.

Described by organisers as a narrative relating the journey of a person’s soul after demise, the composition presents “a musical world laden with emotional energy, depicting fallen angels, ache, worry, and exultation.”
